When you see someone who is bald, your first reaction is oh she must have cancer! Unfortunately, people mistake that person as someone who is sick. This assumption frustrates me to no end. Why do we have to tag people? In life, people should learn to accept the many differences in people. Having no hair is one of them.
Did you ever stop to think that there may be other reasons someone has no hair? There is a list of reasons from yes, being sick to just choosing to have no hair. I don’t understand why people assume things, why can’t the person have no hair? Everyone wants an explanation, but can it be just the way that a person wants to look? What’s the difference if you have black, brown, blonde, or no hair?
Hair is just hair, and that’s all there is to it. Hair, to me, is an accessory. You either have it, or you don’t. No one is ever happy with it either. People always have something to say whether you have long hair or short hair, red hair, or green hair, and the talk of the town, is no hair. It’s just hair, and no one has the right to tease you for how you wear your hair. You are a masterpiece a one of a kind.
The above is the reason I created Ella The Enchanted Princess! Ella has a particular purpose in why she has no hair that I would like to share with children. I wanted a character that children can look up to as a role model in fairy tale books.
Many people that look at Princess Ella can’t help but think that she is sick. You may feel that she has cancer or alopecia or some other crazy disease that stopped her hair from growing. That, of course, is a reasonable assumption, but I did not create Ella for that reason. I didn’t want to create a character that dwells on being sick or dwells on having no hair . Princess Ella is bald because of her creative imagination. Because of this elaborate imagination, she had no room for hair to grow.
Children can relate to Princess Ella for being different. I created Ella as an ordinary little girl that does everything she dreams of doing, and hair doesn’t define her.
I want to show children that having no hair is ok, and you can do everything that everyone else does. Princess Ella teaches children that everyone can be beautiful through their actions not physical appearance. She teaches children that they can be brave and strong, even when they get worried about what other people may think. Ella's confidence shows children how to succeed will help your child see that there are no obstacles that can stop them.
Relating to a character in a fairy tale is very important in a child’s growth. Showing that you are different is a start to teach children who are going through challenges in their lives that they can still do many things. The lack of hair shouldn’t stop them. It is ok to have no hair.
I concentrate on the use of a child’s imagination in my fairy tale books. I try to teach them that they can come up with a solution to any challenge they may face in life. Although I touch on the fairy tale sense of solving problems, fairy tales are the first books that teach children morals. Reading fairy tales and concentrating on the imagination only makes it more fun for the child to realize life is good!
Princess Ella is a beautiful little girl that is very happy, curious, and playful. Ella shows children that it is ok to have no hair. I am a true believer in the imagination, and I want to teach children that they also have fabulous imaginations.
Ella was born with no hair because of her tremendous imagination. Ella is not sick; she has no hair because of her immense creativity. Ella is extraordinary. My focus is Ella's imagination instead of concentrating on Ella having no hair. I don't have Ella dwell on her looks in her books. She quickly learns to accept herself in my first book Who Are You? and having no hair is never mentioned. I feel that if someone is constantly reminded about having no hair it then becomes a problem. Ella gives children who are different the strength and confidence to be their proud, bold, beautiful selves.
